Privacy
What's inside a memorial belongs to the family. This page says plainly how The Keeping Place treats it.
The House Rule
The Keeping Place does not mine, analyze, sell, rent, or train AI on anything inside a memorial — the photos, stories, voice, letters, or names. This is a House Rule, not a toggle you have to find. It doesn't change with a plan or a policy update.
Private by invite
Memorials are private by default. Only the people you invite can see a memorial. There is no public directory and no way to browse memorials.
Never indexed
Memorial pages and the app are marked so search engines never index them. The only pages a search engine can find are the public ones that describe what The Keeping Place is.
Your copy, always
You can export a full backup of a memorial to a file you control at any time, and restore from it. Your memorial is never held hostage to a subscription or an account.
Their voice and words, only as themselves
The Keeping Place preserves real recordings and real writing. It does not synthesize a voice or generate messages as the person who died. Letters are written by the living, to them.
What we collect
The Keeping Place stores a memorial's contents so you can use it across your devices, and basic, non-identifying information needed to keep the service running and secure. Feedback you send is read to improve The Keeping Place. We do not sell data, and we do not use memorial contents for advertising or model training.
Payments
The one-time keepsakes purchase is handled by a payment processor. The Keeping Place does not store your card details.
