Changelog
R0.21 — v0.21.0 · October 2026
A QR poster for the service.
- From Everyone's memories, you can now print a QR poster to set out at the service or gathering — it shows their name and photo, and anyone can scan it with their phone to add a photo and the story behind it.
- It uses the same private, review-first invite, so every scanned memory still waits for you to welcome it in. Nothing is public.
R0.20 — v0.20.0 · October 2026
A new name: The Keeping Place.
- Keepsake is now The Keeping Place — a place where we keep our loved ones' memories alive — on its own home at thekeepingplace.us.
- The name, tagline, and links are updated across the whole site and app, in English and Spanish. Everything you've gathered, your keys, and your settings are untouched.
R0.19 — v0.19.0 · October 2026
Let the family see how close the book is (on request).
- At an owner's request, the keeper can turn on a setting that shows the family — the people adding memories by invite — a gentle "how close is the book" meter, so everyone can rally to finish it together.
- It's off by default and set per memorial from the keeper's dashboard; the full readiness detail still lives with the owner.
R0.18 — v0.18.0 · October 2026
Know when the book is ready.
- A gentle readiness meter now shows how full the book is: it fills as the family adds photos, stories, letters, and moments, and tells you when you've gathered enough for a beautiful book.
- If you gather more than a single book holds comfortably, it lets you know you'll choose the ones to include when you order — nothing is ever lost.
R0.17 — v0.17.0 · October 2026
Home page reflects private-first printing.
- The printed Memoirs Collection is now described the way it actually works: copies printed and shipped privately to your family by default, with an optional choice to also publish on Amazon — no longer "published to Amazon" as the only path.
R0.16 — v0.16.0 · October 2026
Manage memorials from the dashboard.
- The keeper's dashboard now lists every memorial in the central store with its contribution counts, and can permanently delete one (and all its contributions) — useful for cleanup and testing.
R0.15 — v0.15.0 · October 2026
Print contact address.
- Print orders now use the Ahlchemy contact email by default.
R0.14 — v0.14.0 · October 2026
Print wiring matched to Lulu's official spec.
- Corrected the print-order format to Lulu's getting-started guide exactly — the book's interior and cover now sit on the line item with the right checksum field, so real orders will be accepted.
- The book SKU now uses Lulu's dotted Pod Package ID format; the keeper enters the exact one from Lulu's Price Calculator.
R0.13 — v0.13.0 · October 2026
Two ways to print — private by default.
- Requesting your book now offers two clear choices: Private — we print your copies and ship them straight to you, never listed anywhere (the default) — or also publish on Amazon, an opt-in for when you want it orderable by anyone, with a plain note that a public book is searchable.
- The private request now collects how many copies you'd like and where to ship them, so we can print and send them directly.
- Behind the scenes, The Keeping Place is wired to the Lulu print service for private, drop-shipped copies — quote the cost and place the order from the keeper's dashboard once your book is designed.
- Honest by design: until the print service is connected, the dashboard says so plainly rather than showing buttons that do nothing.
R0.12 — v0.12.0 · October 2026
The central, secure family store.
- Memories, stories, and photos the family shares now land in one secure, central place — so you (and only you) can see them all together, cross-reference them, and build the book from them.
- Two-key security: each memorial has a private owner key that never appears in a link, and a separate contributor token — the only thing an invite link carries — that lets family add but never moderate. Both are stored only as one-way hashes, so even a database leak exposes no live key.
- Family contributions arrive for your review first; nothing joins the collection until you welcome it in.
- Your backup now safely carries your keys, so you can restore a memorial on a new device and still own it.
R0.11 — v0.11.0 · October 2026
Storage, admin, shop, and Spanish.
- Photos and voice recordings now store in Cloudflare R2 (with a safe local fallback) — no more browser-storage ceiling.
- Admin dashboard (token-protected): a book-quote request inbox with one-tap reply, a feedback inbox, and a settings panel.
- The shop is now curated, auto-populated collections — flowers, ash & remembrance necklaces, frames, urns, candles & comfort, and cards — every link Associate-tagged.
- Full Spanish: a Spanish shop, and Spanish privacy, terms, and how-to pages (drafts for Dany to review).
- Book messaging now notes that design, printing, and delivery usually take 5 to 10 days.
R0.10 — v0.10.0 · October 2026
Everything works now — no dead buttons.
- A full audit of every button in the app, and every placeholder is now wired:
- Timeline: add moments (date, title, place, note) — kept in sequence.
- Voice: upload real recordings and play them back, right in the app.
- Letters: keep your letters to them, with a running list.
- Checklist: your ticks are saved, and each task links to an official how-to resource.
- Keepsakes: Export PDF produces a printable keepsake; Open voice jumps to the recordings; Choose a keeper names who the collection passes to.
- A cover photo of them — shown on the memorial header and the PDF.
R0.9 — v0.9.0 · October 2026
Buttons that work.
- Fixed: sharing a photo & story now saves even before you've filled in "About them" (it quietly starts the memorial for you).
- "Create an invite link" now generates a real, copyable family invite link.
- Shared photos now have an owner review step — welcome each one in, or set it aside — before it joins the collection.
- Rituals are live: light a candle (a gentle animated flame) and keep private notes to them.
R0.8 — v0.8.0 · October 2026
The whole person.
- A gentle "About them" intake now opens the memorial: full name, nickname, birth and passing dates, birthplace, where they lived, resting place, and who they were to you — all optional.
- Honors, shown with quiet dignity: military / veteran service, life roles ("beloved grandmother of 7"), achievements and life's work, and a favorite quote or epitaph for the header and the book cover.
- The things that made them, them: children, grandchildren, favorite movies, books, music, hobbies, and collections.
- Their birthday and day of remembrance are offered automatically on the reminders tab (opt-in, as always), and the book cover and page estimate now build from the profile.
R0.7 — v0.7.0 · October 2026
Hero photo fix.
- The golden-hour album hero now renders reliably: it's a real image element (object-fit cover) with a lighter left-to-right scrim, instead of a CSS background behind a heavy wash that left it invisible.
R0.6 — v0.6.0 · October 2026
KV reconnected.
- Wired the correct KV namespace id (the earlier value was a D1 database UUID, not the KV id). Feedback and book requests now persist again.
R0.5 — v0.5.0 · October 2026
Deploy fix.
- Fixed the Cloudflare deploy failing (invalid KV namespace id, error 10042) — which had kept the new brand, hero and theme from going live. KV is temporarily disabled until the correct namespace id is added; feedback and book requests log safely in the meantime.
R0.4 — v0.4.0 · October 2026
Requesting the printed book.
- The book is now a request, not a direct purchase: tell us you're ready and we design your Memoirs Collection by hand, publish it to Amazon, and send you the link to order copies.
- A one-time design fee of $40–$100 (depending on how much you've gathered), with an honest size-and-fee estimate drawn from your collection. Printing stays separate, on Amazon.
- Book requests are queued server-side (KV) and also open an email to the keeper.
R0.3 — v0.3.0 · October 2026
The family-circle logo, the golden-hour hero, gatherings, and a shop.
- New brand: the chosen family-circle flower logo and favicon throughout, and the golden-hour album hero on the home page.
- No more tiers. The whole app is free — every feature, no paywalls, no subscription. Monetization is the printed book and keepsakes, through Amazon.
- Family gatherings: create an event and invite the family four ways — scan a QR code, share a link, send an email invite, or type a short join code.
- New Shop page: the printed Memoirs Collection plus hand-picked keepsakes — sympathy cards, remembrance flowers, urns, keepsake jewelry, candles, and frames — each linking to Amazon.
- Feedback now persists to the live KV store.
R0.2 — v0.2.0 · October 2026
A celebration of life, not a mourning. The Keeping Place now wears living color.
- New warm palette — sunrise gold, sunset coral, garden green, open sky — in place of the earlier shadowed tones. Dark mode is a warm dusk, not a cold night.
- Copy reworked throughout to celebrate a life rather than mourn a loss.
- "The Memoirs Collection" — the printed book, with copies you can order for every loved one, now surfaced on the home page and in the app.
- Family photo submissions now collect the story behind each photo — the date, the place, what's happening, who else is in it, and a fond memory of that day — so every contribution becomes a page the book can be built from.
- The family can gather around welcomed photos — react with a warm set of feelings (love, happy, laughing, teary, grateful, hug) and leave comments.
- New living-color logo mark and icons.
R0.1 — v0.1.0 · October 2026
First release. The shape of The Keeping Place, with the sections and the promises in place.
- Marketing home + app shell + dormant admin, on Cloudflare Workers.
- Memorial sections: memorial, timeline, voice (archival only), prompts, family contributions (owner-moderated), legacy letters (to them only), quiet rituals, opt-in reminders, practical checklist, keepsakes.
- Free tier holds a full memorial; one-time $9.99 unlock wired (dormant until payments are enabled) for book/PDF export, voice vault, and legacy handoff.
- English + Spanish (Spanish is a first pass, pending Dany's review).
- Installable PWA, offline-first; light/dark; responsive.
